AN OPEN LETTER TO TED POWER,
PUBLISHER OF THE RENO GAZETTE-JOURNAL
Reference: April 2, 2008Greetings:
A new website at www.ClickHeer.Com deals with the character of government in Nevada. This letter will be posted on said site.
Democracy can not be healthy without a well-informed electorate. Your paper's record is one of not keeping the electorate well-informed. It is clear to me that your publication gives either mere tokenism or no attention at all to some of the issues bearing on the culture of corruption which exists in Nevada government. Such policy does a great disservice to the sovereign people. A different policy of hard-hitting and comprehensive investigative journalism could put a major dent in the antics of Nevada's run-amok politicians and the shadowy power elite behind them.
Have you given any thought to doing a series of articles on just who those persons are that have undue influence over the Legislature, county commissions, and city councils? Have you thought of exposing their agendas and how their value systems work against the ideal of "government of the people, by the people, and for the people"?
Have you given any thought to calling for the decertification of the state's electronic voting machines? Computer experts have proved they can be easily rigged to throw elections! What about running a series of articles on California's decertification of exact-same machines vended by Sequoia Voting Systems? What about informing the public regarding titles of books and movies that expose the facts about dirty machines? What about alerting the public to the fact that no current elected official in Nevada can prove that he or she was honestly elected? And what about Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto ignoring what is probably the worst scandal in the state's history? What about impostor judges sending accused persons to prison or to the death chamber without actually having legitimate power to do so?
Have you given any thought to running pieces first published in the Los Angeles Times about Nevada's corrupt judicial system? Has your paper said anything about Bob Rose, former chief justice of the state's supreme court, admitting serious problems with good ol' boy judges who can be easily bought? Did your paper ever point out that Ed Dannan, a kangaroo judge in Washoe, issued a warped ruling friendly to Washoe Commissioner Bonnie Weber ~ even though she was one of the public officials who controlled Dannan's paychecks at the time? Conflict of interest? What's that? Whaddabout former-Judge Fidel Salcedo who knowingly permitted the use of tampered evidence in his courtroom? As in the showing of a doctored video tape to fraudulently convict at least one person of obstructing and delaying a highway patrol officer.
Have you given any thought to demanding that Washoe Commissioners and D.A. Gammick fully explain their loss of the Ballardini lawsuit? Isn't it true that incompetence on their parts will eventually cost Washoe taxpayers around $30-million? And they're being allowed to get away with a cover-up? What would an honest newspaper do with this situation? Why are you siding with arrogant, incompetent, and dishonest politicians against decent, trustworthy government?
And while we're at it, why was I not permitted rebuttal space in the RGJ when Susan Voyles wrote an unbalanced attack article against me in 2006? What's his name, Fred Hamilton, was publisher then. I asked him for rebuttal space at least 3 times. He ignored me. Next time this happens, we'll go to court with a punitive target of at least 100 billion dollars.
What we need is a serious boycott of the RGJ ~ readers and advertisers ~ unless and until you make it an honest publication committed to keeping the electorate well-informed.
Sincerely,
Guy Felton
